Ingredients

  • Apple cider: 8 ounces (1 cup) per serving. Choose unfiltered cider for deeper flavor.
  • Fireball Cinnamon Whisky: 1.5–2 ounces per serving, depending on how strong you like it.
  • Cinnamon stick: 1 per mug (optional but adds aroma).
  • Orange slice or peel: For brightness and a hint of citrus oil.
  • Whole cloves: 2–3 (optional, for simmering).
  • Star anise: 1 piece (optional, for a subtle licorice note).
  • Maple syrup or honey: 1–2 teaspoons if you want extra sweetness.
  • Caramel sauce and cinnamon sugar: Optional for rimming the mug.
  • Whipped cream: Optional topping for a dessert-style version.

Method

  1. Warm the cider: In a small pot, gently heat the apple cider over low to medium heat for 5–7 minutes. Add a cinnamon stick, a couple of cloves, and star anise if using. Do not boil; just warm until steaming.
  2. Prep your mug: If you want a sweet rim, dip the rim in a little caramel and roll it in cinnamon sugar. Set aside.
  3. Remove spices: Take out the cloves and star anise so the flavors don’t overpower the drink.
  4. Add the whiskey: Pour the warm cider into your mug, then add 1.5–2 ounces of Fireball. Stir gently.
  5. Finish with garnish: Add a fresh orange slice or a strip of orange peel and a cinnamon stick. Taste and sweeten with maple or honey if desired.
  6. Serve: Enjoy warm. For a chilled version, skip heating, mix everything over ice, and garnish the same way.
